I visited Collabology last week. Collabology is an experiment at bringing together students from different colleges (not just UAL) and different locations to work on realistic briefs. Organised by Fred Deakin UAL Chair of Interactive Digital Art.
There’s a pitch style presentation at the end of the week long course which I sadly couldn’t make but some of the students talked me through their work.
There was a low-fi set up that gave the place a start up style atmosphere and energy. I particularly liked the use of Skype to do crits mid week. There was an interesting mix of analogue and digital tools. Moving past digital infatuation and analogue nostalgia as we used to say at Newspaper Club.
Very interesting and great to see people experimenting like this. One to watch.
